Souleymane Bachir Diagne

Souleymane Bachir Diagne (b. 1955) is a Senegalese philosopher and lecturer. He received his doctorate in 1982 from Sorbonne Université in Paris. Diagne has taught philosophy at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Since 2007, he is Professor of French and of Philosophy and Director of the Institute of African Studies at Columbia University in New York City. His field of research includes history of logic, history of philosophy, Islamic philosophy, and African philosophy and literature.
