EILEEN MYLES: THE BALAD OF SNOW AND THE DESERT

About the talk

In this video, writer Eileen Myles approaches the theme of 'Snow and Desert' poetically. In an associative lecture, they establish connections between their own experiences of snow and desert (Myles lives in New York City and the Texan desert town of Marfa), to the history of literature and political events in North America. They quote the American novelist Henry Miller as well as the Persian poet Rumi and touches on topics such as migration, colonization and misogyny.

“I can’t separate the snow and the desert from the sky and the stars.”
