Rico Valär grew up in Zuoz / Engadin, studied linguistics and literature as well as Romansh in Zurich, Lisbon and Port-au-Prince. He worked at the Federal Office of Culture, as a presenter on Romansh television and as a freelance lecturer, speaker and mediator in culture and cultural policy. Since 2018, he has been an associate professor of Romansh literature and culture at the University of Zurich.
