Bigna Guler grew up in the Engadin and found her way to folk music at an early age. As a child, she would sneak her grandmother’s Swiss accordion out of the living room and play for hours on just three notes. That was the beginning of her great passion. After completing her Matura — the Swiss school-leaving qualification equivalent to A-levels or a high school diploma — she went on to study at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts – Music, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2025 with Schwyzerörgeli as her main instrument. With a focus on Groove & Electronics, she combined folk music with jazz and developed her own distinctive approach to different musical styles. In autumn 2025, she was awarded the Goldene Lilie, the prize of the Schloss Wyher Foundation for the best bachelor’s project. Bigna is currently deepening her skills in the Master’s programme in Instrumental Pedagogy with a focus on Media Composition. Her repertoire ranges from traditional folk music to new, experimental sounds. Her own compositions are especially influential, reflecting her openness and enthusiasm for cross-genre projects. Alongside music, nature is an important source of inspiration for Bigna. It gives her calm, strength, and new ideas. This balance fuels her creativity and is reflected in her music.
