Christian Herren is an interdisciplinary practitioner working at the intersection of art, design and research. He combines the roles of creative director, curator and book producer. International exhibitions and publications organised by Christian include 'Swiss Design Classics' in various Chinese cities, which was commissioned by the Swiss Confederation and presented the most comprehensive survey of modern and contemporary Swiss furniture design ever shown in Asia. Recognised for his expertise in book production, Christian oversaw the archival reworking of Engadin Art Talks and is the editor of the forthcoming 'E.A.T. Index', which features contributions from Emily Segal, Theaster Gates and Norman Foster. His curatorial collaborations include exhibition projects across Europe, Asia and North America with artists such as Sophie Calle, Ragnar Kjartansson and Roman Signer. He is currently developing an exhibition on structural films from the 1970s and 1980s, which is scheduled to launch in New York in May 2026. Earlier in his career, Christian worked as a Senior Specialist in the artists’ prints and books department of an auction house. He studied art history, design and fine arts in Basel and Amsterdam, and collaborated on research projects with the EHESS in Paris and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. His work on early modern drawing was published in the Metropolitan Museum of Art catalogue 'Dürer and Beyond'. He continues to be active in arts governance, serving on the boards of the Teo Jakob Art Collection Foundation and the Rudolf Urech-Seon Foundation.
