Claudia Losi is an Italian artist. Her multidisciplinary practice explores the relationships between human beings, other living species, and the environments they inhabit, bringing together art, science, anthropology, and literature. Working across textiles, embroidery, drawing, sculpture, photography, installation, performance, and participatory projects, Losi often develops long-term processes shaped by encounters, journeys, storytelling, and collective experience. Textile practices occupy a central place in her work, understood not simply as a medium but as a way of thinking through connections: between individual and collective experience, memory and transformation, human and non-human worlds. Her work investigates different forms of temporality and the ways in which images, stories, gestures, and knowledge are transmitted across bodies, communities, and generations. Among her major projects is Balena Project, a long-term work centred on a life-size fabric whale that travelled through different communities and contexts, culminating in the publication The Whale Theory. Un immaginario animale (Johan & Levi, 2021). Her work has been presented at institutions including MAMbo, Bologna; MAXXI, Rome; Collezione Maramotti, Reggio Emilia; Ikon Gallery, Birmingham; Royal Academy of Arts, London; and Zhejiang Art Museum, Hangzhou, as well as at the Sharjah Biennial. Recent projects include Being There. Oltre il giardino, Anìmule, and the solo exhibition "tempo crudo" at Monica De Cardenas in Milan, 2026.
