David Adjaye (b. 1966) is a British architect of Ghanaian origin based in London. He grew up in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Adjaye studied at the Middlesex University, the London South Bank University, and at the Royal College of Art. In 2000, he founded the architectural firm Adjaye Associates with offices in Accra, London, and New York City. His building projects include the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. (2016). In 2017, Adjaye was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.
