Elisabeth Bronfen is a cultural theorist, author, and freelance curator. Since 2023, she has been Emerita at the University of Zurich, while continuing to serve as Global Distinguished Professor at New York University. Her research interests include literature and visual culture, American culture, femininity and death, crossmapping as a hermeneutic method, TV dramas, Shakespeare, and seriality. In addition to numerous monographs, edited volumes, essays, and exhibition catalogue contributions, she is also the author of the culinary memoir 'Obsessed: The Cultural Critic’s Life in the Kitchen' and the novel 'Händler der Geheimnisse'. Her latest academic publication, 'Shakespeare und seine seriellen Motive', appeared in spring 2025, and her second cookbook 'Meine Stimmungsküche' will be published in autumn 2025 by Echtzeit Verlag.
