Joanna Leśnierowska is a choreographer, curator, visual dramaturge, and performance maker. From 2004 to 2020, she ran the first regular dance space and choreographic development centre in Poznań, Poland — Old Brewery New Dance, the performance programme of the Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk. Joanna conceptualised and curated the choreographic reflection programme Acziun Susch at Muzeum Susch in Switzerland for five years. Since 2022, she has been working independently, collaborating with several international institutions including the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, the National Museum in Warsaw, ZHdK Zurich, HKB Bern, Art Safiental Biennale, and Tanzplattform Deutschland 2026, among others. Joanna regularly serves as a choreography expert at the Culture Observatory in Warsaw and teaches dance and choreography at the Warsaw Theatre Academy. Alongside her curatorial work, Joanna has developed her own artistic practice as a visual dramaturge, lighting designer, and performance maker, expanding her work at the intersection of visual arts and performance. In addition to her individual creations, she has collaborated with numerous Polish and international artists and has developed various teaching formats dedicated to visual dramaturgy. For several years, she has also been a member of the Berlin-based collective 'cranky bodies a/company', where she applies her skills in real-time light and image composition.
