Juliette Uzor is an artist and dancer. She works with movement and the positioning of bodies in space, exploring their dynamic and ambivalent relationships. With a focus on place and rhythm, her work opens up diverse perspectives and temporalities. For Uzor, this serves as an artistic strategy to reflect on societal structures. Her practice moves between the concreteness and abstraction of movement. Since 2024, she has been a mother, which has introduced new dimensions to her central working tool: the body. After studying art history, art, and mediation in Bern and Zurich, as well as completing a three-year training in contemporary dance at La Manufacture in Lausanne, she has worked in various positions and projects. She has presented her own works at venues such as Tanzhaus Zürich, Gessnerallee Zürich, Kunsthallen Zürich and St. Gallen, Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Ménagerie de Verre in Paris, and various alternative spaces. She has collaborated with artists including Alina Arshi, Marie Jeger, Natasza Gerlach, Elie Autin, Isabel Lewis, Eleanor Bauer, and Cosima Grand. In 2020, she received the Culture Award of the City of Zurich. In the summer of 2021, she participated in the Performance Art Festival in Freetown, Sierra Leone, and was nominated for the Prix Mobilière. In 2022, she received a project grant from the Canton of St. Gallen. In 2023, she was awarded the MANOR Art Prize St. Gallen, and in 2024, she received a Swiss Art Award.
