Pascale Marthine Tayou (b. 1967) is a Cameroonian artist. He lives and works in Ghent, Belgium and in Yaoundé, Cameroon. He began his career as an artist in the 1990s, and has carried out exhibitions in Cameroon, Germany, France, and Belgium, among others. His artistic practice encompasses a diverse range of mediums, including sculpture, installation art, photography, and video works. Over the course of his career, Tayou has delved into themes of cultural identity, globalization, and environmental consciousness. His installations often invite viewers into immersive environments that blend elements of different cultures and perspectives. Tayou's sculptures and works of art are characterized by vibrant colors and materials sourced from around the world, creating a mosaic of cultural symbols and references.
