Romeo Cusini is the Mayor of Zuoz, a Swiss civil engineer, and a member of the FDP. After a long career as a structural engineer at Caprez Ingenieure AG in St. Moritz, he founded his own engineering firm, INGStatik CUSINI Romeo AG, in Zuoz in 2025, specialising in structural, infrastructure and cable-car engineering. First active in Zuoz's communal council, where he held the schools and culture portfolio, he was elected mayor at the traditional Chalandamarz elections on 1 March 2023, defeating Ladina Tarnuzzer 209–167, and was decisively re-elected in 2024 with 344 votes. As mayor his brief covers administration, personnel, public safety, schools and the Samedan regional airport, and he represents Zuoz on the Region Maloja presidents' conference. He came to wider national attention in late 2025 when Zuoz, alongside Silvaplana and Madulain, rejected a CHF 51 million loan for the Upper Engadine hospital in Samedan — prompting his much-quoted question, "are we repairing the old or creating something new?" — and he subsequently joined the hospital's foundation board, while also serving on the board of the Promulins nursing-home company in Samedan.
