EYAL WEIZMAN: FORENSIC ARCHITECTURE

About the talk

In this video, architect Eyal Weizman reports on the work of the interdisciplinary Forensic Architecture (FA), which is committed to investigating human rights violations by states, police forces, the military, and companies. The agency that Weizman founded at Goldsmiths, University of London uses the architecture, where traces such as bullet holes or devastation caused by explosions can be identified, as evidence. The course of events can be reconstructed and documented with the help of city maps, satellite images, mobile phone footage, and witness reports.

“Denial is not simply a rhetorical act to say that something did not happen. Denial is an enabling condition of violence. When violence is denied, it can go on being made by that denial.”

— Eyal Weizman
