In this video, film expert Matthias Brunner discusses with E.A.T. curator Daniel Baumann the fragmentary nature of the work of French-Swiss film director Jean-Luc Godard. After presenting scenes from two of Godard’s films – 'Pierrot le Fou' (1965) and 'Two or Three Things I Know About Her (Deux ou trois choses que je sais d’elle)' (1967) – they explore the they explore the narrative style typical for Godard. Similar to the Cubists in art, Godard deconstructed the form; instead of a realistic storytelling, he experimented with inserts, comments, and excurses.
