In this video, artist Pascale Marthine Tayou gives an insight into his artistic practice and talks about the concept of Taudism that he developed. The neologism, which recalls of earlier Isms in art history, is based on the French term for slum “Taudis.” According to Tayou, the slum marks a place to live, but also a form of thinking and interpersonal relationships. The artist makes reference to his African origins and at the same time speaks of universal experiences.
