Elizabeth Diller talks about the architectural projects she realizes with her design studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R). In addition to temporary architectures, these projects include The Shed (2019), a multidisciplinary cultural center on the High Line in New York City. The Shed is an adaptable architecture; a static building is surrounded by a movable outer shell that can be deployed over the adjoining plaza to provide additional space. This venue in Manhattan responds flexibly to the diverse needs of contemporary cultural production.
“Architecture loves to resist gravity in all different ways.”
